Microneedling

What is it, and how does it work? SkinPen® Precision, the first-to-market and FDA approved Microneedling device safely and effectively increases collagen and elastin production, promoting smoother, firmer, and healthier looking skin. Microneedling has been shown to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, acne scars, age-spots/sunspots, and stretch marks. This service can also be combined with other Foxy Laser Skin Care Solutions.

The device is comprised of 14 sterile micro-needles with disposable cartridges on a reciprocating head which when activated and placed properly against the skin can create hundreds to thousands of “micro” punctures. The treatment creates many microscopic channels and while doing this, it activates the body’s natural healing response to remodel the skin and keep the overall structure intact. The remodeling process works as these punctures heal. The process is designed to stimulate your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and repair signs of damage. It rejuvenates with little recovery time, and produces both corrective and anti-aging benefits. Microneedling treatments are performed in a minimally-invasive and precise manner. The treatment is normally completed within 30–60 minutes.

Does Microneedling with the SkinPen® Precision hurt? The treatment may cause some minor discomfort during and after treatment. A numbing cream will be applied before treatment begins in order to keep you more comfortable.

Who is a candidate? The device can be used anywhere on the body, and the treatment is safe for all skin types.

Contraindications

The SkinPen® Precision System should not be used on patients who:

  • Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)
  • Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)
  • Have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics
  • Have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction
  • Are pregnant or nursing
  • Are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)

NOTE: This product is not intended for transdermal (under the skin) delivery of topical products such as cosmetics, drugs, or biologics.

Precautions:

Please inform us if you are allergic or sensitive to any of the following ingredients which are in the Skinfuse Lift HG hydrogel: purified water, glycerin, carbomer, potassium hydroxide, disodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, sorbic acid. If you are, SkinPen® Precision treatment may not be safe for you.

PRE-TREATMENT: If you get cold sores regularly, you may take an antiviral like acyclovir or valacyclovir starting one day prior to your appointment which will reduce the likelihood of a breakout.

Avoid sun exposure and discontinue topical retinol or tretinoin at least 3 days prior to treatment. You should allow at least 24 hours after autoimmune therapies before a treatment. You should wait six months following oral isotretinoin (such as Accutane) use before receiving treatment. Please arrive for your treatment without makeup on, and with a clean, (and for men a clean shaven) face. If pretreatment numbing is desired, a topical anesthetic agent may be used. The treatment area will be cleaned and then prepared with isopropyl alcohol before treatment begins.

What I should I expect?
After the treatment, your skin will be pink to red and flushed in appearance, like a moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on certain areas, dryness, rough skin, itching, peeling, discomfort, tenderness, and burning. This will diminish significantly within a few hours following the treatment. Within the next 24 hours, the skin will often appear to have returned to normal. Sometimes pigment changes that include lighter or
darker skin in the area resolves over time, or no change in their acne scars.

POST-TREATMENT
Within the first 72 hours post-treatment you should avoid sweaty exercise, as this can cause discomfort and irritation. You can reapply the Skinfuse Lift HG hydrogel as needed, up to 24 hours post treatment for hydration. Strictly avoid sun exposure as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the treatment. Continue to minimize sun exposure for 72 hours following treatment.

Will I need more than one treatment to achieve my desired results? Treatment goals will be discussed in the consultation. A series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart may be required for optimal results. There is no limit to the number of treatments that one can receive as long as adequate time passes in between each treatment. Maintaining your investment with maintenance treatments is highly recommended. We will guide you on a treatment plan for your specific needs.
