How Many Treatments are Needed?

What are the Contraindications of Dermaplane?

The following are the most common contraindications for Dermaplane. If you have any of the following conditions prior to your appointment, call Foxy Laser for consultation.

Active acne lesions
Active cold sores
Skin cancer
Open skin sores
Dermatitis
Prescribed retinol within a week of treatment
Use of Accutane within the past six months

What are Dermaplane Side Effects?

Dermaplane is a pretty low risk procedure. The following are the common side effects:

Redness of the face for a few hours after treatment.
It is possible whiteheads can develop after dermaplaning
It is possible to get a hystamine reaction from the treatment. It will go away over the course of the day.

Steps Prior to Your First Appointment

Stop using products that remove dead skin cells such as chemical or manual exfoliators such as scrubs.
AHAs, BHAs, retinoids and microbeads should all be avoided before your session.
Discontinue use of Retin-A 7 to 14 days before going to Foxy Laser for treatment.

Dermaplane After Care Instructions

Dermaplane post treatment includes:

Apply serums and moisturizers
Use 30 SPF or greater sunscreen
Do not use scrubs or other exfoliators for at least one week.
Avoid direct sun for 3 to 5 days.
Avoid extreme heat and sweating for 3 to 5 days.
Avoid chlorine pools and spas for at least one week
